A: Crystal Reveal Candles include a hidden crystal inside the wax. As the candle burns, the crystal is slowly revealed. We recommend removing the crystal with tongs once it becomes visible.

A: For safety, it’s best to remove the crystal before lighting or after the first burn. Crystals left inside may shift, crack, or affect the flame. Use tongs and caution when removing.

A: While our candles are made with clean ingredients, some essential oils may be sensitive for pets. Always burn in a well-ventilated area and never leave pets unattended near an open flame.

A: Yes—they’re beautifully unique and just as easy once you know how! To light a wooden wick, tilt the candle on an angle and let the flame draw across the entire wick—similar to lighting a match. It may take a couple of tries, but once the wax begins to draw through the wick, it’ll burn steadily.

Wooden wicks create a soft crackling sound and burn cleanly with no soot or smoke, thanks to our high-quality FSC-certified wood wicks and natural wax blend. If you notice smoke, simply trim the burnt wood and check for drafts.

A: The first time you light your candle sets the tone for every burn that follows. Let it burn long enough to form a full melt pool that reaches the edges of the jar—this can take a few hours depending on the candle size. This helps prevent tunneling and sets a strong “wax memory,” ensuring an even, beautiful burn every time.

A: For a clean and consistent flame, keep your wooden wick trimmed to about ⅛"—roughly the width of the metal on a USB drive. After each burn, gently remove any charred bits once the wax has fully cooled. This helps the wax flow through the wick properly and prevents smoke or flickering. Wooden wicks prior to burning are hard to trim so if your wick is too long from the start you will require a candle wick trimmer, nail clippers, or wire cutters to trim your wick. After the wick has been lit, you can use any of those mentioned or use your own fingers with a tissue to easily snap off the burnt tip. Always trim when the wax is solid to avoid debris falling into the candle. If you trimmed too much of the wick off and the candle flame keeps going out after you lit your wick, just remove some wax around the wick to expose the wick more and light your wick again.

If your candle has developed a tunnel down the center, don’t worry—it’s fixable! The best solution is to let it burn long enough to melt the wax all the way to the edges of the jar, effectively resetting the wax “memory.” Be patient—even if the flame is low, as long as it’s burning, it should slowly correct itself.

If the wick is drowning in wax and won’t stay lit, carefully soak up some excess wax with a paper towel or napkin, then relight. Repeat as needed until the wick has space to breathe.

As a last resort, you can gently scrape away hardened wax at the edges, or use a foil “dome” around the rim to reflect heat and melt the sides evenly.

Tip: Tunneling can usually be avoided by letting the wax pool reach the edges during the very first burn.

A: Yes—at Bewitching Eden, we only use thick, heat-resistant glass and metal tins that are specifically made for candle use. Not all containers are created equal, and burning candles in unsafe vessels (like wine glasses, teacups, or candy dishes) can be dangerous.

Only containers made of thick, smooth, heat-proof materials like proper candle glass, tins, ceramic (labeled microwave/dishwasher-safe), concrete, or enamel should be used. Unsafe containers may crack, shatter, or even cause fires due to heat exposure.
