Born from Clay, Shaped by Nature — The Story Behind Our Handcrafted Pottery Vessels

There is something ancient and deeply human about holding a piece of clay in your hands. Before it becomes a vessel, before it holds a flame or carries a scent, it is simply earth, raw, honest, and full of possibility.

Every pottery vessel in the Bewitching Eden collection begins that way. In Mill Bay, on Vancouver Island, each piece is brought to life one at a time. Some are hand-built, coaxed into shape through touch and patience. Some are thrown on the pottery wheel, finding their form through rhythm and movement. And some begin with molds I design myself, a way of blending structure with artistic freedom, allowing each piece to carry both intention and spontaneity.

No two vessels are ever exactly alike. That is not a limitation, it is the whole point.

What the Earth Gives

Clay is one of Mother Nature's most generous gifts. It holds memory, the pressure of a thumb, the curve of a palm, the decision to smooth or to leave texture as it is. Each vessel carries the quiet marks of the hands that shaped it, and the spirit of the moment it was made.

The glazes begin with a carefully chosen palette, turquoise, blues, browns, blacks, whites, and warm oatmeal tones. But the final colour of each piece is never fully known until it emerges from the kiln. Glazes are layered and mixed by hand, and the heat does the rest. Two vessels glazed the same way can come out entirely different. That is not a flaw. It is the fire's signature, and it is what makes each piece truly one of a kind.

Colour is not chosen for trend. It is chosen because it feels right, because something about it speaks to you before you even know why.

More Than a Candle

Each vessel is finished with intention. Crystals are placed at the top of the candle, chosen to complement the energy of the piece. And select candles will also carry a hand-designed copper pendant, crafted and shaped by me, attached to the vessel as a small wearable keepsake. Every detail, from the clay to the crystal to the copper, is made by my hands.

You Will Know Your Vessel

When you find the right piece, you will feel it. Maybe it is the colour that stops you, something that mirrors a feeling you carry but rarely name. Maybe it is the shape, round and grounding, or tall and reaching. Maybe it is the scent of the candle nestled inside, a fragrance that takes you somewhere familiar and safe.

That pull is not accidental. It is the whole point.

I believe that the objects we bring into our homes choose us as much as we choose them. A vessel that speaks to you is one that will stay with you, long after the candle has burned, long after the wax has been cleaned away. It becomes a cup for morning tea, a holder for crystals, a small altar on a windowsill.

These vessels are food safe, dishwasher safe, and built to last. They are not decorative objects meant to sit untouched. They are made to be used, loved, and woven into the rhythm of your everyday life.

The Handcrafted Pottery Collection is still being shaped, quite literally. New pieces will be ready this fall, each one unique, each one waiting for the person it belongs to.
